HISTORY

Brodomerkur bases its development on the strategy that rests on specialization and investments.

We shall review just some of the more important events in these fiftyfour years of existance :

• 2004
  On October 4 Mirko Grbešić,owner of the company MEPAS d.o.o. Široki Brijeg, became the majority owner of Brodomerkur after his acquisition of the shares from the small shareholders and of the majority package of Nova Banka ( 26% ).
• 2003
  Early July 2003 Brodomerkur was registered in the quotation of PLCs on the Zagreb Stock Exchange under the stock symbol BDMR-R-A.
  Nominal value per share is HRK 1,900 ; total number of the shareholders is 1,050.
• 2002
  Opening of the 1st Home Improvement Centre DUJAM in the northern part of Split offering a production program that makes the home life easier
• 2001
  After a three-year period of application the recertification of the ISO 9002 quality standard was carried out.Adjusting to the new ISO 9001-2000 standard started.
• 2000
  Brodomerkur entered the club of billionaires as regards its total revenue.New Management Board chaired by Sando Ivanišević was appointed.Treasury stocks were successfully sold to the company employees; small shareholders became majority owners of Brodomerkur (61%).
• 1998
  ISO 9002 Certificate of Quality was awarded to Brodomerkur
• 1997 and 1998
  Brodomerkur expanded its business activities and became a majority owner of the trade companies specialized in trading of foodstuffs, i.e.VISOČICA – Gospić and DINARKA – Knin.
• Septmber 27, 1994
  The shareholders decided to establish limited liability companies (Ltds.) for rendering of services .Consequently Brodomerkur added the word ''usluge'' (Services) to its name and became ''Brodomerkur trgovina i usluge d.d.''.In the meantime some of these Ltd.companies became independent ,some were integrated into other companies and some into the parent company.Only one Ltd.company remained, i.e.the one that rendered transport services (''Uslužne djelatnosti d.o.o.'').
• January 15,1993
  General assembly of Brodomerkur's shareholders took place.The most important decision in the history of the company since small shareholders subscribed their shares.Brodomerkur became a joint-stock company.
• 1992
  Last merger with Jadrantrans (warehousing facilities and transport vehicles for goods).
• 1990
  A beautiful architectural piece of work was finished – Brodomerkur's Office Building – providing space for 650 employees.
• 1980.
  Brodomerkur's family became more numerous since Interdalma (acting as an agent of foreign companies)joined it.
• 1965 and 1979
  The below mentioned mergers were carried out.
• 1956
  A company under the present name – Brodomerkur –was established.It was the uniformity of business activities of the six trade companies that made them consolidate in the common interest to supply individual customers and industry in a more efficient,faster and better way.
• September 30, 1946
  A trade company aimed to deal with buidling materials and technical goods was founded.In the years to follow six trade companies were integrated :
  Alati (''Tools''),Željezarija (''Hardware''),Elektro i radio uređaji (''Electric and Radio Devices''),Boje i lakovi (''Paints and Varnishes''), Kemikalija(''Chemicals''),Drvena građa(''Wooden Ware'')
