It occured more than once that you wondered how a certain company which ,of course, sells something ,possesses full information about you. It happened more than once to you that you had to enter strange data, e.g. on marital status, telephone and GMS numbers etc., when filling diverse registration forms. In short, you place your whole profile at disposal to ''someone''who sells it then, without your knowledge, to someone else to whom you will be the target customer. The data banks on possible customers are sold to various agencies at high prices.
Therefore, it is not surprising that the rules for the personal data protection , treated as business secret, are stipulated in detail. The Convention for the Protection of Human Rights, the Personal Data Protection Act , the Rulebook on the Content and Way of Keeping the Employee Worktime Evidence are just some of the legal frames of treating the afore mentioned issues.
The data security monitoring is carried out by the Personal Data Protection Agency from Zagreb, whose representative visited Brodomerkur for the first time to carry out control. She checked whether the data on employees are kept legally, timely and correctly; how these data are stored, who administrates them and to what extent they are protected. It is, of course, very important to know who has access to the employee personal data , how the changes are kept, how they are protected from the unauthorized announcement and misuse.
Our Human Resources Office takes care of all these data and a procedure is set for any fact that relates to the personal information and has a mark ''secret''. All ''files'' on employees have been stored in the locked steel closets for years.
The Agency representative established and wrote down that our data were ''safely locked'' and that the prescribed legislative was fully followed.
